Walther kick-started the modern, safe-to-carry, quick-to-action duty and self-defense handgun market in 1929 when it introduced the Polizei Pistole” (PP). Intended as a duty pistol for military and law enforcement, features like a double-action trigger with a hammer decocker and loaded chamber indicator, along with its sleek and streamlined look, sat the PP apart from other handguns of its era. After being out of production for nearly a quarter of a century, new for 2024, Walther is bringing its classic PP back to the market.

The Walther PP is a blowback operated pistol that uses a traditional single-action/double-action trigger mechanism with a slide-mounted decocking lever that doubles as a safety. It has an overall length of 6.9” and a height of 4.3” with a 3.9” barrel, putting its size in what would be considered the “compact” category of modern handguns. With its slide and frame made of steel, the PP has a weight of 24 ozs.

The only visual differences from the original models is that the new PP has an extended beavertail on its frame to aid in shootability and the front sight post has a small red dot with a red “dash” on the bottom of the notch of the rear, for a “dot-the-i” sight picture.

Front view of the Walther Arms PP.The PP is available with either a stainless steel or black finish and chambered in either .32 ACP or .380 ACP.

The Walther PP is available in two chamberings (.32 ACP or .380 ACP) and two finish (matte black steel or matte-finished stainless steel) options, for a total of four distinct models. Magazine capacity is eight rounds of .32 ACP or seven rounds of .380 ACP in its single-column steel magazines. The Walther PP, in either chambering or finish option, has an MSRP of $969.
