A home intruder with an extensive criminal record was shot and killed by an Amarillo, Texas, homeowner after he broke into a house on Thursday, June 22, 2023.

At 5:30 a.m., the 53-year-old suspect forced his way into the woman's home through a locked back door, according to police. She was able to grab a gun and shot the man. Police arrived on the scene later and found the intruder dead inside the house.

According to officers, the deceased suspect had an extensive criminal history, having been in and out of prison since 1991 for cocaine possession, aggravated robbery and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. The man was also a convicted sex offender, having assaulted a 12-year-old girl, and was also an alleged murderer. (ABC7 News; Amarillo, Texas; 6/22/23)
