A knife-wielding assailant was stopped by an armed citizen at a home in Madison, Wis., on Sept. 17, 2023.

Police responded to the scene of a large fight, after multiple callers noted that they heard gunfire. Upon arrival, officers found a critically injured 20-year-old man with gunshot wounds, as well as three stabbing victims. According to investigators, the 20-year-old attacked multiple people with a knife, and one of his stabbing victims was armed and defended himself.

The stabbing suspect was taken to the hospital, where he remains in critical condition. All three stabbing victims have been treated and are expected to survive. (NBC 15; Madison, Wis.; 9/17/23)
