Kim and Jim Fee, owners of Rob’s Quick Stop, were suspicious when a young man wearing a black bandana over his face entered the store around 9:15 a.m. With firearm in hand, the masked robber rounded the counter and headed for the cash register. Jim immediately drew his .380 ACP-chambered handgun and aimed it at the assailant. Surprised to find a pistol aimed back at him, the suspect fled. The culprit is reportedly still at large, and no injuries were sustained during the incident. (Kitsap Sun, Bremerton, WA, 8/22/14)

One young man was killed and another was wounded after the owner of a gun store in Lafayette Parish, La. caught them in the act of robbing his shop. Police say the business was initially robbed Sunday evening, and then when the alarm went off again a few hours later, the owner drove back to the store to investigate. There he confronted two men, who jumped into their vehicle and drove toward him, striking both the owner and the building. When one of the thieves then raised a gun toward him, the owner pulled his own handgun and fired several rounds into the vehicle. The car sped away, but was quickly located nearby, the driver dead at the scene from multiple gunshot wounds, and the passenger injured after being shot once. The passenger is in stable condition at a local hospital and is expected to survive. Police found the guns stolen from the store in the back of the culprits’ vehicle and later discovered that the car itself was also stolen. (KATC.com, Lafayette, LA, 12/29/14)

Myron Baker, an NRA member from Fremont, Ohio, turned the tables on a youthful bandit who held him up and robbed him at a filing station where he was an attendant on Jan. 12. The bandit, armed with a revolver, had turned his back to get into the stolen automobile he was driving, after having secured the service station money, when Baker took advantage of the opening, drew his own gun and commanded the youth to surrender. Baker held the bandit at bay until assistance arrived. After his arrest, it was discovered that the young man’s gun was unloaded.

Review: Steiner Predator: 4S 4-16X 44 mm

The benefit of a lightweight rifle is lost the moment you top it with a clunky, overweight optic, particularly a lengthy one. To that end, we are starting to see an emphasis on riflescopes that are less cumbersome when mounted, such as Steiner’s Predator 4S.

A Carry-Ready Classic: Outfitting A Ruger Speed-Six Revolver

Already a fan of Ruger’s long-discontinued double-action Security-Six, Police Service-Six and Speed-Six revolvers, I simply couldn’t pass up the opportunity to acquire one of the latter in 9 mm Luger when an unfired, 42-year-old example turned up at a gun show.
