The Armed Citizen

Armed Citizen® Today

An armed citizen drove off several would-be car thieves in Shelby County, Tenn., one of which fired at him when he walked out to his driveway. Late in the evening on Thursday, Feb. 10, 2023, the man received a call from one of his neighbors, who told him that several individuals were milling around his vehicles. The man went out to his driveway to investigate.

Once the suspected car thieves saw the vehicle owner emerge from his house, two of them took off running, and one of the two fleeing men, armed with a pistol, turned back toward the vehicle owner and opened fire. The owner was also armed, and he fired, which spurred the suspects to flee.

The armed citizen was wounded in the ankle during the encounter and is recovering. One of the suspected thieves was later arrested after wandering the neighborhood, knocking on doors and yelling into his phone, "Y'all left me, come pick me up!" (WREG; Memphis, Tenn.; 2/10/23)

From the Armed Citizen® Archives – August 1984

Phillip Borelli, co-owner of a Hempstead, N.Y., auto dealership, noticed two men asking his brother Anthony, the other proprietor, about the price of a truck. Suddenly, one pulled an unidentified weapon and struck Anthony on the head, knocking him to the ground. Borelli pulled his licensed revolver and fired, sending the two attackers fleeing. Why the Murder Rate Quickly Fell to a Likely Historic Low

If the gun-control Left is to be believed, then the murder rate in the U.S. should be going up. After all, gun sales and ownership rates have been rising for the last few decades and anti-gun groups claim that gun ownership is the cause of violent crime. This, of course, is nonsense.
