Armed Citizen® Today

A homeowner in Spartanburg County, S.C., armed with a shotgun held two would-be burglars at gunpoint until police arrived that afternoon to arrest the suspects.

Just after noon, police received a call from a woman at the residence, who alerted the dispatcher that her husband was currently holding two alleged burglars at gunpoint inside their house. When officers arrived, they found a 51-year-old man and a 45-year-old woman inside the house, with the homeowner pointing a shotgun at the man. After officers asked the homeowner to lower his firearm, they took both suspects into custody.

Both the man and woman provided police with different stories about why they were at the residence, and both have been charged with second-degree burglary and petit larceny. (7News; Spartanburg, S.C.; 9/21/23)

From the Armed Citizen® Archives – March 1982

Connie Albritton had been robbed five times in one year and had decided that she wasn't going to let it happen again. After a criminal robbed her at knifepoint inside the Tampa, Fla., bar where she worked, she followed the man into a parking lot, leveled a .25-cal. semi-automatic pistol and held him for police.
