A homeowner in Compton, Calif., was forced to defend himself when an armed burglar attempted to rob him on Dec. 7, 2021.

The homeowner had just exited his home and was getting into his car in the driveway around 6 a.m. that Tuesday morning, when an individual approached him. The stranger allegedly produced a knife, threatened the homeowner, and attempted to rob him. Unknown to the crook, however, was the fact that the homeowner had a pistol on his person.

In response to the threat, the homeowner produced his pistol and shot at the alleged robber. The assailant was struck several times in the chest by the homeowner's shots, halting his robbery attempt, and was declared deceased by authorities once they arrived on scene. The 79-year-old woman ordered the intruder out of her house and then called police. The authorities arrived to find the intruder hiding in Stark's car. The woman's purse was recovered, and a suspect was arrested. (The Times-Delta, Visalia, Calif.)
