Armed Citizen® Today

One burglar is dead and another suspect is in custody after meeting an armed homeowner in Camdenton, Mo., in the early morning hours of Wednesday, October 2.

Police received a 911 call from the homeowner at about 3 a.m., alerting officers to a burglary in progress at the residence. The caller told police that they had shot one of the burglars, causing the other to flee the scene in a dark-colored vehicle. Medical personnel arrived on scene and rendered aid to the stricken 44-year-old burglar, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police followed up on several leads after the burglary and arrested a 23-year-old suspect in connection with the burglary. Due to the death of his accomplice, the suspect faces charges of felony murder as well as burglary. He is currently held on a $250,000 bond. (Camden County Sheriff's Office; Camdenton, Mo.; 10/9/24)
