A man who, along with a female, instigated a road-rage incident is now hospitalized after threatening a concealed-carry holder in Urbana, Ill.

At 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 16, the CCW holder was alone in his car at an intersection when a verbal altercation occurred between him and the occupants of another vehicle, a man and a woman. As the solo driver exited the scene of the altercation, the pair in the other car began following him. The single man then drove into a nearby hospital parking lot, then exited out onto a road on the other side in an effort to increase the distance between him and his pursuers, police say.

Both cars stopped on the road, and the pursuers exited their vehicle. The woman had armed herself with a baseball bat, and according to the solo driver, the man "had his hand underneath his shirt," causing the driver to believe he had a hidden weapon. The set-upon driver drew his legally concealed handgun and fired several rounds at the man. He then called 911. The threatening male underwent surgery at a local hospital, where he remained in intensive care. No arrests had been made in the case at the time of reporting. Dr. Robert Lee Bradfield, druggist of Vienna, Va., was responsible for the capture of two men accused of kidnapping a Washington taxi driver as well as attempting to rob his drug store. The doctor shot one of the men in the leg in a rough-and-tumble with the burglars, which enabled police to nab the pair.
