A man in Bowie, Md., defended himself when a group of armed teens allegedly tried to rob him on Feb. 8, 2022.

The 38-year-old man was in the parking garage of an apartment complex when a group of teens approached him, guns in hand. In response to the clear danger posed by the would-be robbers closing in on him, the man produced his licensed concealed-carry pistol and fired at the teens in self-defense, striking one of them in the process. The defensive fire of their intended victim encouraged the youths to scatter and flee.

However, the youth that was struck by the man, a 17-year-old, walked into the Bowie Health Center for treatment for his gunshot wound. Police also found a 15-year-old nearby the scene who was an accomplice. Authorities later found two other teens, a 16-year-old and another 17-year-old, after they crashed their car, which was reported stolen in Virginia. Inside the vehicle, police also found two pistols. The three eldest teens were charged as adults for their attempted armed robbery. (wusa9.com, Washington, D.C., 02/09/2022)
