New for 2020, Sako announced a new category of bolt-action rifle hybrids. The Sako S20 was designed with shooter adaptability in mind, and has several features built in. These include a takedown stock interface and adjustable ergonomics in a one-size-fits-all approach. At the same time, the design is meant to remain durable and accurate.

The stock configuration allows the user to choose the configuration and adapt it to their specifics wants or requirements. The specific sections that are adjustable include the availability of different stocks and fore-ends that and be mounted to the same basic package. Along with the launch, Sako will offer a tactical precision and ergonomic hunting stocks along with corresponding fore-ends for aftermarket purchase.

The tactical precision stock incorporates several features that are generally preferred in the tactical long range community. These include a fat near vertical pistol grip, adjustable cheek rest and an adjustable length of pull. the fore-end of the tactical precision stock is flat at the bottom to assist in stability when a bipod is not being used. two M-LOK compatible slots are on either side of the tactical fore-end to allow attachment of rail segments for accessory attachment. two quick-detachment sling pint are on either side of the forearm and butt.

The hunter version of the stock was designed with the user's comfort in mind, using a thumb-hole style grip and stock configuration. like  It has less mass in the fore-end versus its tactical precision counterpart to help reduce some of the overall weight and keep the hunter's forearm less strained. The forearm also has a zone with special material that assists with grip retention in adverse weather conditions. Like the tactical precision stock, the hunter also includes an adjustable cheek piece, length of pull and quick-detachment sling holes.

Swapping between stock types on the S20 is meant to be fast with two screws, between the rear stock and fore-end, being loosened to allow removal. The rifle is also designed to ensure swapping between stocks will not affect the set zero and no other adjustments are needed for use. The stocks use an aerospace aluminum chassis acting as the structural skeleton and absorb all of the recoil force. the external body is constructed of a high impact resistant material to survive extended use and drops.

Basic features of the rifle itself include a multi-adjustable trigger that can be moved forward or back to fit different hand sizes and is available as a single-stage or two-stage. The barrel is cold hammer-forged, and a whole length aluminum V-Bedding system is used to increase repeatable accuracy between stock swaps. Instead of using ring mounts separate of the receiver, Picatinny rail segments are machined directly into the receiver of the S20. The bolt is machined from stainless steel and uses three locking lugs with increased surface area to increase safety and smoothness.

the Cartridge Plus detachable box magazine is made of glass-reinforced composite with a longer maximum cartridge length to support reloaders. The magazine is also designed to support cartridges from the shoulder to prevent damage to the rounds from recoil. The rifle comes with a five-round magazine, with 10-round magazines available separately. When released the S20 will be available in .243 Win, .308 Win., 6.5 mm Creedmoor, .270 Win., 30-'06 Sprg., 7 mm Rem. Mag., .300 Win. Mag., and 6.5 mm PRC.
