Relying on his experience as an outdoorsman and as one of America’s foremost custom knifemakers, Pat Crawford devised his Original Survival Staff as a customizable combination stability aid and self-defense tool versatile enough to be relied upon as a staff, lance, sword cane, walking stick, swagger stick or blow gun. Machined and knurled from hardened, black-anodized aluminum, the staff has an outer diameter of 13/16 inches and consists of long (33 inch) and short (21 inch) main sections topped with a 10-inch long knife with wrist lanyard featuring a 4¼-inch blade. Components are connected by way of coarse screw threads and are sealed with rubber O-rings. Optional accessories include: storage tubes, fish spear, T-handle, solid steel head, camera mount, fire starter, rifle rest and blowgun darts. (Crawford cautions that some facilities and localities do not allow the use or transport of sword canes or blowguns.)

Price: $295 and up, depending on accessories
