Mossberg Announces Mossberg Modern Rifle (MMR)

Though it's produced look-alikes in the form of the 702 Tactical Plinkster, Mossberg has officially announced its entry into the world of AR-type rifles with the Mossberg Modern Rifle (MMR). The MMR features a direct gas impingement operating system, free-floating carbon steel barrels, over-sized trigger guard for use with gloves, and a Stark Ergo pistol grip.

The MMR line will be initially offered in 5.56x45 mm (.223 Rem.)and is divided into MMR Hunting and MMR Tactical lines, with each offering features suited to the firearm's purpose. The MMR Hunting, available inblack, Mossy Oak Brush and Mossy Oak Treestand, will have an aluminum tubular fore-end and A2-style buttstock, 20-inch barrel, Picatinny rail, Weaver-style rings and a five-round magazine.

The MMR Tactical line will have a 16.25-inch barel with removable A2-style muzzlebrake, Picatinny quad-rail fore-end, with the option of a six-position adjustable or fixed stock, and accepts either 10- or 30-round magazines. Check out the Mossberg website for additional information.
