Welcome to another American Rifleman Gun Of The Week video, we’re on the range today with a special variant of Browning’s popular Citori over-under shotgun. This particular model is only available from Davidson’s Gallery of Guns. Thanks to Davidson’s position as one of the largest firearm distributors in the country, the company convinces manufacturers to craft unique models and product combinations for their buyers. The resulting configurations from the Davidson’s network of dealers are ones you just won’t find anywhere else. This Browning Citori White Satin shotgun chambered in .410 bore is one of those exclusive options. Watch our video above to learn all about this exclusive offering.

For avid shotgunners, Browning’s Citori is a gun that needs little introduction, and it’s a design that has roots going back to the company’s great namesake, John Moses Browning. The prolific inventor developed the concept of the over-under shotgun with his Superposed, and that legendary design remained a mainstay in the shotgunning world until the 1970s. Though the Citori shares the same layout and lines of the Superposed on the outside, on the inside, it’s an entirely different animal. Rest assured, though. Browning’s redesign means that the Citori is a shooter’s shotgun.

This Davidson’s exclusive is one of the sweetest-shooting Citoris you’ll find, and that’s because it’s chambered for the .410-bore shotshell, one of the lightest and smallest shotshells available today. Considering that the gun weighs almost 6.5 lbs., unloaded, and is fit with a generously sized recoil pad, this over-under is one you can shoot all day without bruising the shoulder. A set of 28” barrels completes this sub-gauge shotgun and provides all the reach you need for light .410 loads while still being handy enough for field use. A trio of Invector choke tubes allows shooters to fine-tune their pattern as needed, with full, improved cylinder and modified chokes shipping with the gun.

For those looking to highlight their Browning pride, this Davidson’s Exclusive variant has a special touch you won’t find on most Browning Citoris. On the flat sides of the silver-nitrided, satin-finished receiver, there’s a golden Browning buckmark that matches the gold treatment on the gun’s inertia trigger. Completing the classic look is a gorgeous set of satin oil-finished walnut furniture, enhanced with checkering on the forearm and stock grip.

From a practical standpoint, this Citori has a lot going for it. The combination of a chrome-lined chamber along with the gun’s hammer ejectors means you can get spent shells out of the chambers quickly and easily, even when there’s fouling. Considering its .410 chambering and scaled receiver, this Citori is a great companion on both skeet and hunting fields, and it’s certainly one you’ll enjoy carrying and shooting for as long as you need to. We appreciated the crisp feel of the top-tang safety and barrel selector, and the operating lever worked smoothly. Opening and closing the action was seamless, and every part of this Citori felt well-built and well-finished. As for reliability, well, it’s a Citori. It’ll do what you need it to.
