RSBC Group, a Czech investment company, announced the acquisition of Steyr Arms in April 2024. The move adds a second gunmaker to the company’s portfolio, following the group’s acquisition of Slovenia’s Arex Defense in 2017. Steyr had been wholly owned by SMH Holding GmbH, a German investment group, since 2007.

“The acquisition of Steyr Arms is a once-in-a-generation opportunity. We are proud to be involved in the further development of its legacy,” said Milan Šlapák, CEO of RSBC Group. “Steyr Arms has an exceptional product portfolio, especially in the field of long guns for the military and law enforcement and also in the category of hunting and sporting rifles.”

Following the acquisition, current Arex CEO Tim Castagne will take over management of both brands. Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed, although a company press release stated that Steyr’s net sales for 2023 exceeded €45 million.
