Of the sporting arms on display at SHOT Show 2025, the shotgun category showcased several big revelations, while many other brands confirmed former innovations are extending deeper into their respective product lines. All of which is a direct response to consumer trends over the last 10 years, and shotguns have shown to grow in popularity as new gun owners have come to the field along with upticks in the competition shooting arena, especially at the youth level. Here’s six completely new products, and 10 others to keep an eye out for in 2025:
Benelli Nova 3 Pump
From Benelli in 2025 you’ll find many new and exciting scatterguns sprinkled throughout the company’s portfolio, but one exciting standout comes in the form of a pump-gun. Those who know Benelli know it to be a true innovator, and it has continued that legacy in 2025 with a complete rework of the Nova blueprint, lifting the dependable Nova into its third generation. This year Benelli announced Poly-Mod, and this design is the basis for the new Nova 3, which comes as a monolithic receiver and buttstock that gives a one-piece, corrosion-proof foundation for the robust manual action to run on.
In addition, the new Nova 3 action is more efficient and ergonomic than its predecessors—it comes with a 14 percent shorter stroke cycle, which means you can run the gun even faster than before. The new buttstock and fore-end are improved with aggressive Ergo-Evolved Diamond Grip texturing scallops and the trigger guard is enlarged for easier access with large or gloved hands. Operating the gun is improved thanks to an enlarged ejection port on the receiver’s right side and enhanced loading port along the receiver’s bottom. At launch this line is built for 12 gauge shotshells and comes with a 3” chamber. Options available are a matte-blued, Realtree Max-7 or Mossy Oak Bottomland camouflage finish, in addition to 26” or 28” barrels. BenelliUSA.com
Browning Citori 825 Field
An evolution of John Browning’s Superposed over-under shotgun is the Browning Citori over-under shotgun and, for 2025, Browning has upgraded its popular Citori line with all-new models. At launch, the new Citori 825 line comprises of 10 sub-variants all of which have received new technologies sprinkled throughout. And on the more affordable end of the lineup is the Citori 825 Field, which is intended to supply hunters with new-level performance out of Citori-series guns. Although not limited to field use, these new upgrades bolster performance at the range, too.
To start, the Browning Citori 825 Field is relegated to 12 gauge and will have the option for 28” or 26” polished and blued barrels. The line features a low-profile steel receiver with the renown full-width hinge pin and tapered locking lug arrangement for consistent lockup and long lifespan. The Field variant offers a silver nitride finish over a subtle game-scene engraving along the left and right sides. For 2025 Browning is incorporating a new trigger system as well, dubbed Fire Lite 2, that is mechanically operated, which is a boon to those who hunt. You’ll get that great Inflex recoil pad and Invector-DS-series chokes Browning is known for. In addition, Grade II/III walnut adorns the new Citori 825 and it comes with a glossy oiled finish. Mossberg 590R
O.F. Mossberg & Sons shocked many of its fanbase with a highly requested feature, which came via a simple safety selector. While that may not sound like much, for brand aficionados, this is a big deal; previously the American brand’s 590-series shotguns came with tang-mounted safety selectors. And given the fact this line has catered to defense practitioners and tactical operators over the years, the limiting factor came when paired with pistol grips. Now, the 590 has been upgraded to include a rotary selector similar to those found in use on America’s rifle, the AR-15.
Ambidextrous by design, the new 590R builds on Mossberg’s robust pump-action design and comes with a few other notable upgrades. With an obvious nod to ergonomic upgrades here, the 590R will come with a comfortable and easy-to-grasp fore-end, elongated loading gate with beveled edges for smooth reloading and a buttstock by Mossberg that is adjustable for five positions and houses sling cups throughout. A cool-looking heatshield is also applied to the barrel’s topside, and Magpul MBUS3 sights adorn the included Picatinny rail. A flat-profile trigger comes standard here, too. As of press time, models will include 18.5” barrels with 3” chambers and drilled for Mossberg’s Accu-Choke system and have capacity for 6+1 rounds. Mossberg.com

These hardworking, gas-operated semi-automatic shotguns will be available in 12- and 20-ga-size actions with options for synthetic furniture, walnut or Mossy Oak camouflage. Since TriStar's focus is on high performance, the Turkish importer has worked with its manufacturer to redesign the Raptor-series stock and fore-end, which results in a better fit to the shooter, whether in the duck blind or on the clays course. While length of pull is set for 14-1/4", there's mention of youth-size models as well. Controls of the new Raptor II are now oversized and even easier to use. Winchester SXP Extreme Defender Woodland FDE
Winchester has updated its Super-X Pump (SXP) 12-ga. shotgun for 2025 to include a few feature-rich models that lend well to tactical-type use, whether that be inside the home, outdoors in pursuit of wild game or running through the stages of 3-Gun. The new SXP Extreme Defender boasts significant upgrades over previous generations of Winchester's manually operated scattergun, with the most notable being the gun's furniture—a pistol grip buttstock adds utility and control while featuring an adjustable comb and sling points. The Extreme Defender line of SXPs include a few different finish options on the gun's aluminum receiver and steel barrels. And speaking of barrels of the SXP Extreme Defender series, these latest iterations will come with a hard chrome-plated chamber and bore and come topped with a heat shield. Picatinny rail tops the receiver for optics and included is an aperture sight. Barrels are 18" capped with a breacher-type Invector-Plus-pattern choke. Chambers are bored for 3" shotshells. Winchester maintains much of what you'd expect to find in the Super-X Pump line, such as an inertia-assisted action with a four lug rotary bolt, back-bored barrel technology for shot-pattern consistency, a drop-out trigger group, Inflex recoil pad and reversible crossbolt safety.
