With the first day of SHOT Show about to start and Industry Day at the Range behind us, we’ve already gotten a look at some of the new handguns out for 2025. Notably, we’re seeing several companies lean into the 2011 concept even more, giving the much-loved M1911 platform an update in terms of capacity. Several other companies have come out with some new takes for the handgun market. Here's six of the latest:
EAA Corp. Girsan Witness 2311 Brat
European American Armory Corp has leaned into the double-stack M1911-style handgun market in a big way with its Witness2311 line of guns, and the Brat is just the latest. This 9 mm Luger handgun marries the double-stack grip frame with an Officer-length barrel and slide, providing a bit more compactness in what is usually otherwise a large and bulky design. The Witness2311 frame is steel, which is paired with a polymer grip module that reduces some weight and still provides a generously sized magazine well funnel that accepts the 17-round flush-fit magazine. The Brat joins the Match and Match X as one of the latest addition to EAA’s growing line of Witness2311 handguns, which are available in a range of sizes, configurations and calibers.
FN America Reflex XL
In 2022, FN America introduced its take on the 9 mm Luger micro-compact handgun with its Reflex, which made use of a steel chassis and a hammer-fired operating system. The design proved to be one of the most reliable and accurate micro-compacts ever tested by American Rifleman, and now, the company has upsized the design with its Reflex XL. This slightly enlarged version is outfitted with a 3.8” barrel and features a slightly longer polymer frame, which accepts flush-fit 15-round magazines and extended 18-round magazines. The slide is cut to accept Shield RMSc and Holosun 507K footprint red-dot optics, and it can be had in either an all-black or FDE finish.
Kimber 2K11
Kimber rolled out with its first entrant in the double-stack, M1911-style handgun market with its KDS9c, but the company still lacked a truly competition-style handgun in the same vein. Now it’s here in the form of the 9 mm Luger-chambered 2K11, and unusually for the 2011-style handgun market, the grip frame is entirely metal instead of using a combination of metal and polymer. Slides are cut to accept Trijicon RMR red-dot sights, and Kimber sells models of the 2K11 equipped from the factory with a Trijicon RMR red-dot optic. The guns feature 5” barrels and have a magazine capacity of 17 rounds in a flush-fit configuration and 20-rounds in an extended configuration.
KelTec PR57
One of the more unusual introductions in 2025 came in the form of the KelTec PR57, a semi-automatic, hammer-fired, concealed-carry handgun that’s chambered for the 5.7x28 mm FN cartridge and feeds from an internal 20-round magazine fed by 10-round polymer stripper clips. The design uses a unique, rotary-barrel operating mechanism that uses locking lugs just behind the muzzle. The design makes use of a long, double-action-only trigger pull that’s still smooth and requires just 4.5 lbs. of pull weight. KelTec’s signature grenade-pattern texturing surrounds the grip frame, and the design also provides a single-slot accessory rail for a light or laser. Optics can also be mounted to the cylindrical slide.
Ruger RXM
Ruger’s big news for 2025 came in the form of its RXM. In a collaboration with Magpul, Ruger has developed a Glock-pattern, chassis-style handgun that accepts factory and aftermarket grip frames produced by Magpul. The design is Glock-friendly in most major ways, with most Glock Gen3 aftermarket components being compatible with the design. The sights are Glock-pattern, and the pistol accepts all Glock 19 pattern magazines. Each pistol ships with a single Magpul PMAG GL9 magazine. Additionally, the design fits most holsters designed to accept the Glock 19.
Springfield Armory 1911 DS Prodigy 3.5" Compact
Springfield Armory expanded its double-stack, M1911-style Prodigy line of handguns in 2025 with its first compact offering. The 3.5"-barreled Prodigy Compact, chambered in 9 mm Luger, uses a 7075 aluminum frame to save weight and accepts 15-round, flush-fit magazines. Like other offerings in the Springfield Prodigy lineup, the Prodigy Compact still makes use of a full suite of M1911-style features, including a bilateral manual thumb safety, a recessed slide-stop lever on the left side of the frame and a push-button magazine release located in its traditional spot on the left side of the grip frame. The Prodigy Compact also makes use of a beavertail grip safety, as well as a skeletonized external hammer, but both have been recontoured to minimize the profile of the gun for improved concealment. Atop the matte-black slide sits Springfield's Agency Optic System, which promises wide compatibility with a range of today's red-dot footprints.
Still more companies have rolled out new offerings for 2025, and American Rifleman staff are on the ground at SHOT Show, gathering details on some of the latest and greatest introductions slated to hit the market this year. Stay tuned for further updates from the show.
