An armed bystander came to the rescue of a woman in Tucson, Ariz., who was being assaulted and pursued by her boyfriend on April 28, 2021.

The woman and her boyfriend were in the parking lot of a bank that Wednesday night after 7:00 p.m., when the boyfriend began assaulting her. The woman managed to break away from his grasp and ran to a bystander's car, begging for help. The man in the car let her in, as her boyfriend approached.

The boyfriend confronted the man, and the argument quickly escalated. In fear for his own safety and the woman seeking refuge inside his car, the man drew his handgun and shot the assailing boyfriend. Police were called to the scene around 7:30 p.m., and the stricken boyfriend died at the scene of his wounds.

The man was interviewed by police at the scene and was not arrested in the incident. The woman was injured during the attack by her boyfriend, but were luckily not life-threatening. (tucson.com, Tucson, Ariz., 05/30/2021)

The owner of an Evergreen Park, Ill., car wash was closing up shop when an armed intruder struck him on the head with the butt of a pistol. The gunman then forced Richard Grotemeyer to walk to the cashier's cage to hand over the day's receipts, but the owner grabbed a 9 mm semi-auto and ran from the room.

The burglar chased him and began shooting. The owner returned fire and seriously wounded his assailant. Authorities said it was likely the suspect would be charged with armed robbery and possibly attempted murder. (Southtown Economist Newspapers, Chicago, Ill.)
