An armed citizen in Everett, Wash., stopped a man from attacking others on a sidewalk near Silver lake on May 11, 2021.

The 30-year-old man was walking his dog on the sidewalk around 3:30 p.m. that Tuesday afternoon when his demeanor changed, and he started becoming aggressive to others. In particular, he targeted a grandmother and granddaughter with his aggression.

The man's aggressive actions toward the two caught the attention of several other bystanders who tried to intervene, but the aggressor produced pepper spray and a baton. The armed man then began to spray and beat the others who tried to take his attention off the grandmother and granddaughter. One bystander trying to stop the man was armed with a handgun and shot the aggressor twice when he tried to strike.

The aggressor was hit and subdued by the shots, and was later rushed to a local hospital where he died. The armed citizen cooperated with police, and he was not arrested for the defensive shooting. (heraldnet.com, Everett, Wash., 05/13/2021)

Roused
by his 15-year-old daughter's screams, a Carbondale, Ill., man grabbed a pistol, then confronted an intruder who was attempting to leave the girl's room. When ordered to lie on the floor, the assailant instead moved on the father. A pistol round to the leg halted his advance. Police later identified and arrested a suspect.
