A woman in Harris County, Tex., was forced to defend herself when her ex-boyfriend assaulted her on the afternoon of May 8, 2021.
The ex-boyfriend came over to the 29-year-old woman's home around 12:15 p.m. that Saturday to get his things. That's when the ex-boyfriend got aggressive, as he began to beat and suffocate her. Fighting back against the attack, the woman managed to break free from his grasp and retreat to a location where she had a handgun. She then shot the ex-boyfriend several times.
The ex-boyfriend died of his wounds shortly after. At the time of the incident, the woman had two small children at home with her as well. The children were in another room during the incident and were not injured during the assault. (abc13.com, Houston, Tex., 05/10/2021)

A would-be rapist awoke Claudine Hale in her Baltimore apartment, grabbed her by the throat and threatened to harm the children sleeping in the same room. Hale struggled with the assailant, then managed to reach a handgun, which she used to halt the attack. He fled after being shot, and a suspect was found dead nearby. Baltimore authorities declined to press charges against the woman. (The Evening Sun, Baltimore, Md.)
