Chapuis Armes became part of Beretta Holding in 2019, and now the company is poised to deliver products to the U.S. in 2021 through Benelli USA as the stateside importer of the French company’s artisan-grade guns.

Nestled in central France, in the commune of St-Bonnet-le-Château, Chapuis Armes continues to maintain its gunmaking heritage that dates back nearly 100 years in a historical French region. Chapuis Armes is known for its handmade guns, double rifles, revolvers and over-under shotguns.

The company’s Faisan, featured in the video above, is an over-under with a monobloc barrel configuration that utilizes a boxlock action. American Rifleman recently met with Chapuis Armes to learn more about its over-under shotgun, the Faisan.

The Chapuis Faisan is an artisan-grade gun that is hand-built, engraved and features grade-5 Turkish walnut, an ultra-premium wood that is highly sought after for its impeccable figure. Chapuis stock makers provide a hand-rubbed, oiled finish. The gun's silver-colored receiver contains deep-cut foliage accents with finely executed wraparound game scenes.

As well, an elongated trigger plate on the underside of the stock and the top lever is further appointed by Chapuis master engravers. Hand-cut checkering wraps the gun’s pistol-grip wrist, as well as the grip area of the walnut fore-end. A single trigger is supplied, and there is no accommodation for barrel selection. The Faisan does include automatic ejectors.

Chapius Armes is set to offer its Faisan in four gauges, 12, 20 and 28, and overall weight of the Faisan over-under will range from 6.2 lbs., to 5.5. lbs., depending upon chambering. To see the Chapuis Faisan in action, watch our New For 2021 video above.
