After Governor Andrew Cuomo railroaded the Draconian “Secure Ammunition and Firearms Enforcement Act of 2013” through both houses of New York legislature in Albany—in which the oppressive bill wasn’t even allowed the normal legislative comment and inspection period—many wondered when Kahr Arms would make a move. We received our answer today. Kahr Arms, which also includes Auto-Ordnance and Magnum Research, will be “expanding its corporate offices and engineering department into Pike County, Pa., which is about an hour-and-a-half west of its current location in Pearl River, N.Y. Kahr is buying 620 acres from the Pike County Industrial Park Development Group/Business Development Corporation. The site is near Scranton, and construction is said to start as early as this year. Both Kahr’s manufacturing plants—one in Worchester, Mass., and the other in Pillager, Minn.—are working at full capacity and are not included in the move, although Kahr plans to eventually expand manufacturing to the Pennsylvania site.

The company’s release is telling.

“We are grateful for the warm welcome and the business opportunity extended by the Pike County Industrial Park Development Group/Business Development Corporation to expand our company and relocate its headquarters office,” stated VP of Sales and Marketing, Frank Harris. “The Pennsylvania group has demonstrated tremendous support of our operations and Kahr looks to move forward with the project without delay. It’s good for our business and also for other businesses in the area as we build a long-term mutually beneficial relationship with the community. We anticipate generating significant numbers of revenue and jobs for the local Northeastern Pennsylvania economy with the construction of facilities, expansion of manufacturing, and need for local vendors.”

In case you didn’t know, you can actually put 10 rounds in a 10-round capacity magazine in Pennsylvania without facing imprisonment by Cuomo’s goons. I’m sure that didn’t occur to executives at Kahr. Nah, I’m sure it didn’t factor into their decision at all.
