Sturm, Ruger & Company, Inc. has announced the release of its new SR-762, which brings the .308 Win./7.62 NATO cartridge to the popular SR-556 family of rifles.
The SR-762 retains the features that have made the SR-556 line successful among AR-style rifles. The patent-pending, two-stage piston delivers a smooth power stroke tot he one-piece bolt carrier, reducing felt recoil and improving the rifle's durability. A four-position gas regulator allows the shooter to tune the rifle to function reliably with an array of ammunition and in varying conditions.
Ideal for shooters that appreciate the familiar AR platform, the SR-762 offers the downrange authority of the .308 cartridge in a two-stage, piston-drive rifle that runs cooler and cleaner than traditional, gas-driven AR-style rifles.
A heavy contour, 16.12” chrome-lined, cold hammer forged barrel with a 1:10” twist features exterior fluting to minimize weight. With the Ruger Lightweight Adaptable handguard in place, the SR-762 weighs in at 8.6 pounds.
The rifle ships with folding backup iron sights, a Hogue Monogrip, Picatinny rail sections, a six-position stock, a sight adjustment tool and a soft-sided case. Three 20-round Magpul P-Mag magazines are also included.
